Lakpura Suwadel Rice

A main staple food of our land, rice is a part of many households in Sri Lanka mainly during lunch. A staple from ancient times there were various names given to the varieties of rice that were grown while there were many benefits that they provided as well. Known as heirloom varieties of rice, they are considered to have medicinal values as well. The Lakpura Suwandel Rice is a scented white short round variety of rice which is somewhat related to the Samba rice that we have regularly.

These rice varieties contain carbohydrates, vitamins, nutrients and fat which may benefit ones overall health. Suwandel is meant to have a very unique taste and smell when it’s cooked on your stove. We offer the rice in 1 kg bags while it can be used for local porridges too.
