NHRC Avalokitheshvara Bodhisatva (Plate) - Veheragala
NHRC Avalokitheshvara Bodhisatva (Plate) - Veheragala
(SKU: LSB100C47B) This miniature plate depicting the Bodhisatva of infinite compassion, Avalokiteshvara, shares the same physical dimensions, sensual fluidity, and superb modelling as the larger version. If carefully observed, the Sinhalese influence can be recognised from the slender face of the god and its long, pointed nose, even though this influence comes from Hinduism. On a throne in the shape of a cube, Avalokiteshvara is shown seated in a position of royal ease, with the right leg lifted and the foot put on top of the pedestal; he wears a long dhoti and the sacred thread over his chest.
